What is your favorite season of year? Why?
Rains to me signify my origin and birth. Being born in a rainy season I came to admire what come with the rains. The smell of the soil when the rains are puring out is a therapy in itself. Being brought up in land where people depended on the rains to grow crops the rains was a new hope for families who were really waiting for it to feed their families. Rains bring about new yields and it also depends on how long the rain pours. In a world of haves and haves not rains means everything to my people.
Farming has been a source of livelihood for many African Countries and they depend highly on rainfall and the subsequent rainy seasons. With the high climate change in such countries, rainfall doesn’t follow each other as it used to and this has led to many droughts and famine in such countries where there is now no rainfall and high climate change and even no irrigation to substitute the rainfall that used to cater to their needs. How sad to say many people are flourishing with their industrial produce while some houses are starving from hunger. Rains mean the world to that farmer, that pastoralist who depend on rains to give animals feeds, and that homestead who prays day and night for the rains to feed their families.
