What fears have you overcome and how?

Everyone is born with that desire to do something or be someone important. What is holding you back from that business you’ve been wanting to open, that job you’ve wanted to have, that person you wanted to be, that course you always wanted to do and so many things you want to achieve in your life? Today I will tell you the reason. What is holding you back is a pile of excuses that ooh you are not good enough, you don’t have money for the business and so many excuses you make just to praise your ego for a while but later live with regret for a long time and if not careful you will die full of regrets.

Am not saying people cannot have genuine fears or insecurities on the contrary this does exist but we face them. It could be past traumas holding you back or you have valid reasons why something might not work it is okay to hold on. If it’s trauma it should not hold you back seek therapy, see a professional, heal from your past traumas, and get energized to face the present and future. If they are valid reasons analyze them with these two perspectives are they genuine facts or just projections of my feeling and past disappointments? If the past business didn’t work doesn’t mean the future one won’t work.

Now let’s deal with the giant in the room. Fears could be in different forms: it could be you are a people pleaser and this makes you not look at want you want but rather what other people want. It could be you have weak boundaries you don’t know how to say no and maybe you say yes when you meant to say no. This makes you feel used and you need to build boundaries to grow your dreams and goals. You are a poor time manager- as I had earlier spoke on my article on taking care of yourself you need devise a plan that works for you and not let social media distract you from your intended goal. It could be that fear which is holding you back and makes you procrastinate this is the fear of the unknown.

Always ask yourself what worse could happen if you took the chance. there are only two outcomes you will succeed or fail but you will come out a victor and a better person with a better experience than before. The biggest fear holding many people back is what I call self-doubt and excuses. When it starts in your mind I can’t do this I can’t do that, I don’t have these resources to help me and many other stories you tell yourself you won’t be able to do anything about your current situation in your life.

Now let’s have a look at the solutions to the fears. Begin by telling your mind what you can and will do to change your situation. All changes in our lives begin with the mind. Tell your mind you are capable this is called self-affirmation keep reminding your mind until you start doing it. Learn to build boundaries by learning to say no if no is what you mean and say yes if that’s what you mean. Learn to have boundaries not only with others but yourself deny yourself some instant gratification if that’s what it takes to achieve that goal or pursue that dream. Start by believing you can do it before expecting it from others, it all starts with you. Learn to deal with procrastination by dividing big goals into small achievable ones.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Be disciplined to take those small steps towards your goal and achieve those small goals as this will give you the motivation to do more. Stop telling yourself I don’t have the resources to start that business or I don’t have the connection to apply for that job and start asking yourself how can I get the resources How can I get the connection. Use what you have to get what you don’t have.

Lastly, don’t wait for tomorrow to do what you want to do today. Don’t wait for resources to start that business or project start with what you have and work to get what you don’t have. If you wait for all the pieces of the puzzle to be together for you to take action you will never do anything. Face your fears, seek healing for your traumas, build boundaries, set small achievable goals, and affirm to yourself you can do it and you will do it. If you want your current situation to change work towards that change no one and I mean absolutely no one will do that for you but don’t forget to enjoy the process. Someone was asked why he didn’t fear after losing his business and cash his response will be my closing remark “they took away my business and money but they didn’t take my brains I will build a new one.” Let this be your mindset and you will have amazing changes in your life.
